Frequently Asked Questions

Does the train run on time?
We make every effort to depart and return on time. However, delays are always possible.
Are there restrooms on the train?
Yes, each passenger car has its own restrooms for both Men and Women. There are also restrooms at the Jasper Train Depot and the French Lick Depot as well.
Can I bring an animal on board the train?
We do not allow animals on board the Spirit of Jasper Train, with the exception of service animals. Please notify an attendant if you have a service animal.
Can we bring food and drinks onto the train?
No, passengers may not bring their own food and drinks onto the train. The train offers a cash bar and light snacks will be available for purchase on the train. Please note that credit cards will not be accepted once aboard.

Smoking of any type is prohibited on the train.  This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, cloves, and vaping of any kind.  Smoking is permitted before and after the ride only on the depot grounds.
Do we need to buy tickets prior to the date of departure?
With the exception of the Ride and Dine excursion, seats that have not been purchased in advance are sold at the Train Depot two hours prior to train departure. However, in order to insure tickets for the excursion you desire, advance on-line purchase is recommended.
Do you allow children aboard the Spirit of Jasper Train?
Children are always welcome and must have a ticket. We recommend caution to parents of infants and toddlers who might have a difficult time “relaxing” for the duration of the trip. Due to the general movement of the train or the rare potential for a sudden stop, children cannot walk about the cars unattended. Due to safety issues, strollers and carriers are not permitted onboard.
Do you assign seats?
Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, unless an entire car has been chartered. If a car has been chartered, the attendants will notify passengers which cars are available for seating.
Does my child require a car seat to ride the train?
No, regulations do not require the use of car seats.
